Pusdrainer - First 7" Out Now!!!!!!!!!
Dead Pope Productions presents Pusdrainer's first venture into the world of vinyl. This 7" contains two tracks mastered at 45 RPM that each clock in around the 3:30 mark. Side A features "Ocular Mutilation" a heavy beat driven attack on human life (NO DRUM MACHINES,all analog). Side B features a violent harsh noise crumbler entitled "Ripped Open And Fed Upon" recorded using nothing but broken glass and pedals. These are pro-pressed on CLEAR wax in an edition of 100. New All Ages DIY Venue Downtown!!!!!!!!!
Goetz Alley, run by around five people, is the basement of Park + Vine. It's part of the the Main St. art district and - get this - HAS HEAT!!!!!!!!! It can accommodate up to 150 people, but can have smaller shows without the place looking barren. There's been two or three shows there so far and they've all gone really well. The next one is on the 14th of the month, with Pheramones (Columbus), American War (Columbus), Dead North, and a solo set from Jerome Westerkamp the III (Vacation, ex-The Read).

New Art, Records, and Clothing Store Opened Downtown by Southpaw Prints
Apologies for taking so long to post about this...
Southpaw Prints now has a store in Cincinnati, OH. It's called Static Age and is on Main St. in between 13th and 14th and across from Iris Bookcafe. Brandon Hickle (ex-Black Dove, Paralyzer, etc) and Alex York (White Walls, ex-Order 66, etc) are the owners. I stopped by there today and was impressed with the vinyl selection (which is just getting STARTED...). There's a Hatebreed split 7" there for $5, which Alex said was probably a boot. LP's and 7"s by Hatred Surge, Diet Cokeheads, etc, not to mention local bands like Vacation, Realicide, Evolve, Phatry Records artists like Male in Se, Knife the Symphony, Swear Jar, Ampline, Thistle, etc. Here's an image from the grand opening back on December 17th (d'oh!):

Random Old Records Podcast #26 is Out
Well shit, has it really been a month already since I last posted an episode of Random Old Records? Guess so! Anyway, here is Random Old Records Podcast #26, and it's a bit all over the place. It kicks off with a set of classic glam rock by Mott The Hoople, Sparks, and others, then runs through a whole bunch of new and old psych and prog from the Black Angels, Darker My Love, Ween, Nektar, and Caravan, and it all ends up with a blazing set of 90s punk rock from Rancid and NOFX. WEIRD, but it all seemed to make sense when I was putting it together...
